Interfacings & Stabilizers

Interfacing is a material used to give additional strength, support or shape to garments, quilting and craft projects.

There are many types of interfacings, with different fibre content, woven or non-woven, fusible or sew-in, etc.  Stiffer interfacings, such as foam or fleece are used in craft and quilted projects to provide structure, such as in stand up bags & totes.

Woven Interfacings

Heat'n Bond Q2400 

22" wide - white - $6.99 per yard

Therm O Web Heat'n Bond woven, fusible interfacing is known for adding strength and stability with minimal stretch to fabrics. Use it for all kinds of tailoring and garment construction.

This product is comparable to SF101 Shape-Flex shown below.

Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex

20" wide - white - $7.99 per yard

20" wide - black - $7.99 per yard

Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex is an all purpose, woven, fusible interfacing. It provides crisp support for collars, cuffs, yokes, pockets, facings, and other detail areas of a garment. It can also add body and permanent stability when used as a backing for needlework and punch embroidery. Shape-Flex is intended for light to medium woven and knit fabrics, including oxford cloth, chambray, gingham, madras, tattersall, pincord, flannel, and polyester/cotton blends. To pre-shrink, fill a sink with warm water. Place interfacing in water for about ten minutes. Do not put in washer or dryer by itself or you may loosen the adhesive. Gentle squeeze out excess water and allow to dry.

Pellon SF568 Shape-Flex Light

Pellon® SF568 Lightweight Shape-Flex® is a lightweight woven fusible interfacing and part of our popular regular Shape-Flex® interfacing line.  It provides lightweight, yet crisp support for collars, cuffs, yokes, pockets, facings, and other detail areas of a garment. It can also add body and permanent stability when used as a backing for needlework and punch embroidery. Lightweight Shape-Flex® is intended for light woven and knit fabrics.

Bosal 349B-W Sew-In

24" wide - white - $5.99 per yard

This mid-weight sew-in interfacing is ideal for projects that require soft shape. It helps to create a beautiful draped effect in lightweight jackets and crafts.

Pellon (906F) Fusible Sheerweight

20" wide - white - $3.99 per yard

Pellon 906 Fusible Sheerweight is an ultra lightweight, nonwoven, fusible polyester interfacing for sheer to lightweight fabrics. It is great for wovens and knits such as crepe de chine, voile and handkerchief linen.  Also recommended to stabilize knit fabrics in t-shirt quilts.

Pellon (911F) Fusible Featherweight 

20" wide - white - $4..99 per yard

Pellon 911 Fusible Featherweight is a fusible, nonwoven polyester interfacing for light to midweight fabrics. It is best for use with wovens and knits such as challis, chambray, jersey, broadcloth, cotton and linen. 

Heat'n Bond Fusible Medium Weight

20" wide - $4.99 per yard

Iron on. Non-woven, polyester blend for projects requiring stabilization or reinforcement of the fabric or a bit of extra body to a material. It is mostly used while sewing garments such as shirt cuffs, collars & button holes. But is also used in home decor projects and handbag creation.

Stiff Interfacings

Pellon Decor-Bond (809F) Fusible 

45" wide - white - $7.99 per yard

Pellon® 809 Décor-Bond® is a firm, nonwoven, fusible stabilizer that provides extra crispness and support. It is fantastic for use in placemats, director chairs, lamp shades, and drapery headers. For areas that require extra rigidity, use 2 layers.

Pellon Peltex (71F) Fusible 

20" wide - white - $15.99 per yard

Pellon Peltex One Sided Fusible is an ultra firm, smooth, heavyweight stabilizer for accessories, crafts, home decorating, machine embroidery and quilting. It is easy-to-sew, even when sandwiched in between other fabrics. Peltex will not flatten out or be distorted with steam pressing. It has no grain and can be cut in any direction.

Pellon Decovil 

Decovil I (Heavy) - 17"" wide -  $19.99 per yard

Decovil I Light - 17" wide - $15.99 per yard

Decovil is a unique non-woven stabilizer that doesn’t fray and is tear-resistant. It’s one-side fusible and fuses very well. It feels a bit like leather. The magic, on the other hand, only happens after you apply the interfacing. At first, the interfacing doesn’t seem very rigid. It has a dense consistency but is soft and flexible. After fusing it will show its real nature: your fabric remains flexible, but will be a lot stiffer.

Lazy Girl Stiff Stuff Sew-In 

$10.99/yd - 20" wide

Firm, yet flexible sew-in dense interfacing. It’s forgiving and doesn’t hold the fold like those other guys. You can crumple a bag into a ball and it will bounce right back and stand up straight. Use it in place of fleece or batting in a structured bag. Great for table runners and placemats, too. 

Stiff Stuff = I need some of that stiff stuff to make my bag stand up.

James Thompson Buckram 

25" x 36" precut - $5.99

Buckram is scrim fabric with a starch & resin finish. Most visible use of Buckram today is the support fabric used inside of baseball caps. It is also used in lady's hats, costumes, belts, handbags, emblems, and various industrial applications.

Fleece

Pellon (987F) Fusible Fleece

Pellon 987F Fusible Fleece is a one-sided fusible fleece that adds a layer of softness, body, and stability to home decorating, craft and apparel sewing. Fantastic for quilted bags, table runners, and more.  Can be fused to fabric, cardboard, or wood. It is completely sewing machine safe.

Pellon Thermolam Plus Fusible Fleece 

45" wide - white - $16.99 per yard

Pellon Fusible Thermolam Plus is an extra lofty, needled fleece with fusible adhesive on one side. It is great for craft, home decorating, and quilting projects. Fusible Thermolam Plus will remain lofty after fusing and can be used on fabric, cardboard, or wood. White. 100% Polyester. 45in x 15yd. Sewing machine safe.

A unique laminate stabilizer, laminated on a single side with tricot, napped spun lace on the other, soft and formable, easy to iron, needle friendly, ideal for handbags and fabric boxes that 'stand up'.

Specialty Interfacings

Cambric Dust Cover Fabric

40" wide - black only - Clearance! $2 per yard

100% polypropylene spun-bonded 1.25 oz sew-in interfacing. Anti microbial, commonly used for the underside of upholstered sofa's and chairs as a dust cover. Also used for mask linings due to the antimicrobial qualities. 

Washable in cold, hang to dry, delicate iron, lightweight, flexible.

Embroidery Stabilizers

Sulky Stiffy

Tear-Away Stabilizer
18" wide - $3.99/yd

Sulky Stiffy stabilizer is a temporary, crisp, firm medium-weight stabilizer that is used when a heavier tear-away is preferred. It is great for items that need more support like heavier stitch count designs. Use as many layers as needed for support. It tears away easily without stressing the stitches. All Sulky stabilizers are acid and lead free!
